About Good Company HQ

At Good Company HQ, every journey begins with a conversation. Our focus is not ‘the service’ or ‘the system’; it is the person sitting in front of us and the relationship we build with them. HQ has been designed as a warm, welcoming community space where older adults, people living with dementia, carers and families can drop in, feel safe, feel seen and spend time with people who genuinely care. We believe people age well and live the life they choose, for longer through connection, belonging and meaningful relationships.

The HQ Concierge role is central to creating this experience every day.

Role purpose

The HQ Concierge provides a warm, welcoming and consistent presence at Good Company HQ in Crowborough. This role is about helping people feel known, valued, listened to and connected. The HQ Concierge supports members, visitors and volunteers to feel at ease within HQ and helps create the relational culture that makes Good Company different. The role works closely with the Member Experience Manager to support the smooth day-to-day running of concierge activity at HQ, including supporting volunteers, coordinating daily activity, running briefings and debriefings and ensuring everyone who walks through the door receives a high-quality, relational experience.

The HQ Concierge is often one of the first relationships someone builds with Good Company and therefore plays an important role in helping people feel safe, welcome and part of the community. For many members and families, this role helps shape how they experience Good Company and whether they feel known, connected and less alone. By creating warmth, consistency and meaningful relationships, the HQ Concierge contributes to Good Company’s mission of helping people age well and live the life they choose for longer.

Good Company is in the final stages of an ambitious pilot. As a result, this role sits within an environment that is fast paced, evolving and sometimes unpredictable. Alongside delivering meaningful day-to-day experiences, the HQ Concierge will help shape, test and develop what HQ becomes. We are looking for someone who thrives in change rather than simply tolerates it - someone who feels energised by growth, comfortable with ambiguity and excited by helping build something new while maintaining warmth, consistency and genuine human connection.

At Good Company, while organisation and coordination matter, relationships come first. This role is not about rushing people, ‘processing’ members or simply completing tasks. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of taking time, listening well, noticing what matters and building genuine human relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a warm, welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone who visits HQ.
  • Build trusted relationships with members, volunteers and visitors through active listening and meaningful conversations.
  • Support people to connect with clubs, circles, specialist hosting and wider community opportunities.
  • Recognise when someone may benefit from additional support, connections or opportunities, and respond appropriately.
  • Help maintain a calm, positive and relational atmosphere that fosters belonging.
  • Keep accurate records of interactions and share insights with the wider team to support learning and continuous improvement.

Day-to-Day Concierge Activity

  • Coordinate the smooth day-to-day running of HQ concierge services, supporting volunteers, maintaining a welcoming and safe environment, and ensuring a consistent member experience.
  • Work closely with the Member Experience Manager to identify emerging needs, support continuous improvement, and adapt to the changing requirements of an evolving service.

Volunteer Support and Community Building

  • Support, guide and encourage volunteers to deliver a warm, relationship-focused experience, helping them feel confident, valued and connected.
  • Assist with volunteer onboarding and development, promoting a culture of belonging and recognising opportunities for additional support or growth.

Safeguarding, Boundaries and Good Practice

  • Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, and data protection policies, responding appropriately to concerns and maintaining professional standards.
  • Build trusted relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and handling sensitive information with discretion, contributing to a safe and inclusive environment.

Person Specification

  • Strong relationship-building, communication and listening skills, with the ability to help people feel valued, supported and connected.
  • Understanding of the needs and experiences of older adults, including people living with dementia, carers and families.
  • Organised, adaptable and comfortable working in a changing environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working collaboratively with volunteers, colleagues and community partners, with an understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
  • Competent in using digital systems and maintaining accurate records; full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of supporting older adults, people living with dementia, or unpaid carers (lived, personal or professional).

  • Experience of working with or supporting volunteers.
  • Aware of local community resources, networks and opportunities.
