About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Head of HR to join East Yorkshire Buses as the sole HR professional within the business. This is a pivotal role, partnering closely with Group HR and the Senior Leadership Team to deliver strategic and operational HR initiatives across multiple sites and a predominantly lone-worker workforce. You’ll lead the full employee lifecycle, champion engagement and wellbeing, and ensure compliance with employment law and group standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary HR lead for East Yorkshire Buses, representing HR at Senior Leadership Team level.
  • Partner with managers to provide expert HR guidance and coaching.
  • Develop and deliver recruitment strategies and workforce planning.
  • Design engagement initiatives for remote and lone-working staff.
  • Champion Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and wellbeing programs.
  • Build strong relationships with trade unions and lead collective bargaining.
  • Drive adoption of HR technology and digital processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law and company policies.
  • Oversee training and development programs, including apprenticeships.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • MCIPD or equivalent HR qualification
  • Experience working with unionised workforces
  • Proficiency in HRIS and people analytics

Desirable:

  • Senior-level HR experience in a multi-site operation
  • Experience in standalone HR roles
  • Designing engagement initiatives for remote workers
  • HRIS implementation experience (e.g., Workday)
