We’re driving the future of sustainable transport, and we’re looking for an Electrification and Energy Planning Lead to spearhead our depot transformation for electric bus operations. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our infrastructure strategy, ensuring our depots are electrified ahead of operational need and aligned with customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a specialist team to plan and deliver depot electrification across the Go-Ahead network.
  • Manage relationships with UKPN, DNOs, and IDNOs to secure timely and scalable energy infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with operating companies and commercial leads to develop investment‑ready business cases.
  • Forecast energy requirements and manage the annual energy budget.
  • Oversee energy and utilities procurement, working closely with brokers to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Own contracts with load management service providers, negotiating changes and ensuring compliance.
  • Design depot parking plans to support the transition from diesel to electric fleets.
  • Lead energy optimisation projects, including Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS).
  • Deliver depot electrification ahead of operational demand through strategic planning and stakeholder alignment.
  • Ensure electrification supports customer timelines and operational readiness.
  • Direct management of one Energy Manager and one Technical Drawings Manager.
  • Full accountability for energy procurement budget and contract performance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in infrastructure with a strong electrification background.
  • Experience in the transport sector highly desirable.
