Go-Ahead Group is a leading international public transport operator providing bus and rail services across the UK and internationally. With strong roots in the North East of England, we play an important role in connecting communities and helping people travel safely and sustainably every day.
Scope: Responsible for energy strategy and utilities procurement and operations for the Go-Ahead Group across an international portfolio (primarily UK, Ireland, Singapore).
- Electric bus depots, railway stations and operational sites.
- Electricity, gas and water utilities, with a strategic focus on electricity due to large and growing demand from fleet electrification and EV charging infrastructure.
- Development and management of the energy risk management and hedging framework for the electricity portfolio.
- Assessment of strategic opportunities such as PPAs, private-wire arrangements, onsite generation and energy storage.
- Forecasting and modelling of electricity demand and energy costs, including EV charging profiles across the Group’s international operations.
- Operational oversight of gas and water utilities across the portfolio (primarily contract management and portfolio administration).
- Close management of the Group’s external utilities services partner, which supports the portfolio (electricity, water, gas) with market analysis, procurement execution, hedging implementation, metering management, bill validation and utilities administration.
The role holder will direct and challenge this partner while progressively strengthening internal energy capability, ensuring the Group leads its energy strategy from an informed and commercially strong position.
