The Opportunity

Go Ahead are committed to maintaining the fleet to the highest industry standards providing reliable and safe assets to the communities they serve. Working within a team of Auditors and reporting to the Fleet Quality Assurance Manager, the Auditor Bus Fleet will help support the delivery of a Quality Assurance programme that includes bus inspections and quality management system (organisational) audits. Bus inspection audits are designed to capture poor quality buses and trigger the necessary restorative maintenance to improve safety and reliability of the fleet. Quality management system (organisational) audits will proactively identify areas for improvement and facilitate any required continuous improvement initiatives.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Perform independent Quality Assurance oversight activities including technical inspections of Go Ahead buses, scheduled audits of the Go Ahead Operating Companies quality systems to assure compliance with Go Ahead Way documentation and any other associated standards and/or accreditation.
  • Conduct scheduled supplier audits in support of key services provision.
  • Conduct ad hoc key supplier audits in support of technical equivalence assessments and/or known quality issues.
  • Ad hoc support with investigations following incidents and significant events.
  • Scheduled Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) audits and inspections in support of new bus acquisitions.
  • Create accurate records in support of completed oversight activities such as checklists and audit reports.
  • Review and follow-up closure of any non-conformances raised as the result of internal or external audits or other oversight activity.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform any additional duties or tasks as directed by the Fleet Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Always follow local health and safety guidelines.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Previous experience with bus inspections in a Passenger Transport environment is required.
  • Experience performing audits of quality management systems is preferred but not essential.
  • Passenger Transport Engineering/technical background.
  • Auditor skills and techniques desirable (training provided).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills – communication with stakeholders, internal and external will be a key function of the role.
  • Pragmatic approach to auditing and vehicle inspection.
  • Flexible, adaptable and willing to travel.
  • Self-motivated individual able to work autonomously.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • PCV driving license desirable (training provided).
  • A current UK driving license.
