Are you passionate about food labelling, compliance, and product specifications? We’re looking for a Specification Technologist to join our client’s technical team, supporting the delivery of accurate product information and ensuring all customer and legal requirements are met. (ROLE IS REMOTE BASED)

Key Responsibilities:

As Specification Technologist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate product specifications for all finished goods supplied to our customers. Your role will include:

  • Creating, managing, and approving product specifications to meet both internal standards and customer requirements.
  • Preparing ingredient declarations, nutritional information, and allergen data — including in customer-specific formats.
  • Generating accurate and legally compliant pack copy for product labels.
  • Reviewing and approving artwork to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with customer guidelines.
  • Keeping product data and master records up to date within internal systems.
  • Responding to customer queries relating to specifications and providing timely resolutions.
  • Staying up to date with food legislation, labelling regulations, and customer technical policies.
  • Attending customer meetings, audits, and site visits to present product information when required.
  • Collaborating closely with Product Development, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to meet project deadlines and deliverables.

About You:

We are looking for someone with:

  • A relevant qualification in Food Science or a related subject.
  • Experience working in a specification or technical role within the food industry.
  • A good understanding of retailer specification systems and portals.
  • Strong IT skills — particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • A working knowledge of food legislation, labelling regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
