Our client is a market-leading international food manufacturer with a reputation for producing some of the industry's most recognisable and trusted brands. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team at one of their key manufacturing sites. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the performance of manufacturing equipment across the facility.

Working alongside production and engineering colleagues, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, identify root causes of equipment failures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reliability and productivity.

This position offers exposure to a modern manufacturing environment with ongoing investment in automation and technology, making it an ideal opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their technical skills while making a real operational impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment and production lines.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Perform electrical and/or mechanical maintenance activities in line with engineering standards.
  • Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability, OEE and production efficiency.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning and optimisation of new machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure accurate completion of maintenance records using the site's CMMS maintenance system.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality and Operations teams to minimise disruption and maximise plant performance.
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety and engineering compliance at all times.
  • Contribute to improving engineering processes, maintenance procedures and asset reliability.

About You

We're looking for a hands-on engineer with strong fault-finding ability and experience within a manufacturing environment.

You will ideally have:

  • A recognised Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Multi-Skilled or equivalent).
  • Previous maintenance engineering experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or another fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment would be advantageous.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety and engineering best practice within manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative engineering team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a flexible approach to supporting production requirements.
