The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (Global Energy Alliance) works for a world where everyone has access to affordable, reliable, clean electricity and the means to use it to improve their lives. Our Alliance builds transformative public, private, philanthropic partnerships to end energy poverty and accelerate green economic opportunity. Founded in 2021 by The Rockefeller Foundation, IKEA Foundation, and Bezos Earth Fund, we design innovative projects/programs, unlock finance, strengthen institutions and transform markets, delivering progress anchored in deep community engagement.

Modernising power grids is the single most critical enabler of the clean‑energy transition in the Global South. Across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, fragile and under‑invested grids are struggling to meet surging demand from urbanisation, industry, and power‑hungry sectors such as EVs and data centres—while hundreds of millions still lack reliable power. GEAPP is spearheading the creation of ‘Grids of the Future’: renewable‑ready, digitised, interoperable, and resilient networks that leapfrog outdated systems to deliver affordable, clean energy.

The Senior Fundraising Consultant, Grids of the Future, will not simply raise capital—they will help shape and advance the fundraising approach needed to modernise energy grids across Africa, India, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia. This opportunity sits at the intersection of energy infrastructure, climate finance, and philanthropy, translating grid transformation into a compelling investment case for donors and catalytic capital providers.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

  • Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Design and execute a global fundraising plan to raise $25–35M start‑up capital. Engage directly with at least five core philanthropic partners and three multi‑donor climate funds. Build compelling narratives, proposals, and pitch materials positioning Grids of the Future as the premier platform for systemic grid transformation.
  • Impact & Evidence for Grid Modernisation: Document and share success stories that demonstrate replicable, scalable solutions. Secure funding for flagship demonstration projects proving the model’s effectiveness.
  • Donor Landscape & Market Intelligence: Map funding flows across energy transition, infrastructure, and digitalisation. Track evolving donor priorities and monitor peer initiatives to identify differentiation strategies.
  • Regional Coordination & Global Coherence: Align with GEAPP regional teams to ensure fundraising supports local priorities while advancing the global GOTF program.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master’s degree within Infrastructure Finance, International Development, Development Economics, Energy Policy, or related field.
  • Global Fundraising Expertise: 10+ years of experience in international development fundraising with demonstrated success raising $5M+ annually.
  • Multi‑Regional Expertise: Experience working across Global South regions with understanding of diverse country contexts and development challenges.
  • Technical Competencies: Ability to articulate complex, multi‑sector interventions and their interconnected impacts across diverse global contexts.

Contract Details:

  • Compensation: £50,000–£70,000 for the initial six‑month consultancy.
  • Contract Term: Initial six‑month consulting agreement, with potential extension subject to performance.
  • Location: Remote with optionality of London office if based in UK.

Application Process: To apply, please complete the short form below. The application deadline for this role is Monday 19th January 2026. We do not expect a cover letter as part of your application however shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short‑answer questionnaire.
