Here’s a bit more detail on what we see you doing in this role

  • Responsible for all aspects of maintenance for the hotel, you'll manage the day to day execution and scheduling of planned maintenance, supporting the team in more reactive situations with advice and escalations
  • Take a hands‑on approach to leading your team, providing support when needed, including responding to out‑of‑hours call‑outs, participating in planned night works, and assisting during emergency situations
  • Leading, motivating, developing and supporting our Maintenance team, effectively allocating workloads and prioritising maintenance requests to ensure timely, efficient service delivery
  • Carrying out regular inspections of the property, plant and equipment and identify potential issues before they become failures; also ensuring our guest bedrooms, public areas, back‑of‑house areas and external areas are maintained to the highest standard
  • Managing contractors and reviewing contract performance, asset management, brand protection and ensuring legal compliance will be key elements of your role
  • Scheduling project works planned maintenance, prioritising workload and scheduling for the team, you'll make sure their priorities are always crystal clear
  • Responding quickly to priority tasks, undertaking fault diagnosis and ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standard swiftly and efficiently
  • Ensuring all work carried out complies with the relevant risk assessments, safety legislation, policies and procedures, and all applicable regulations/bylaws, Approved Code of Practices and good practice guidelines
  • Accurately completing all appropriate documentation such as risk assessments, time sheets on time, recommending any required changes to risk assessments within the specific field of knowledge
  • Proactively identifying and reporting any systems within the trades sphere of expertise that would benefit from upgrading
  • Assisting in managing the maintenance budget and play a key role in delivering refurbishment projects, capital investments, and ongoing improvement initiatives
  • Interacting with our guests, always warm, professional, helpful and doing everything you can to exceed their expectations; playing your part in making their stay with us 5 star in every way

The kind of person we're looking for

  • You have fantastic previous managerial experience within the hotel maintenance, buildings and facilities management environment, and ideally you hold a NEBOSH or IOSH Health & Safety qualification
  • Flexible and dependable, you're happy to support an on‑call rota and provide out‑of‑hours assistance when required, including occasional overnight shifts and emergency call‑outs
  • Highly organised, you excel at managing multiple work schedules, balancing competing priorities and ensuring maintenance activities are delivered efficiently and on time
  • Enthusiastic, confident and warm; you like working in an environment where things move and flex, where a lead by example attitude is key
  • You think quickly and use your knowledge of the range of trades to swiftly deal with tricky situations; you have a great eye for detail and ensure this skill is embedded throughout your team
  • Engaging in a proactive, supportive and open way with colleagues and guests alike is second nature to you
  • Highly motivated and possessing an immense sense of pride in your work; you're passionate about delivering the high standards for our guests in line with the Gleneagles brand
  • You have a positive “can do” attitude to solving problems in a professional and courteous manner
  • A strong team player with great communication skills and an enthusiastic approach; you're well organised and punctual with an eagle eye for detail
