We are currently seeking a confident, professional and adventurous Gundog Instructor to join our team at The Mews.
At The Mews training school, we create memorable guest experiences through interactive falconry and gundog activities, combining expert tuition, animal handling and the traditions of Scotland's countryside in a welcoming environment for beginners and enthusiasts.
The on target earning potential for this role is £33,453 / per annum - comprising a base annual salary of £28,453, plus a qualified estimate of £5,000 in gratuities and service charge.* As a member of the Gleneagles team, you will also enjoy a fantastic range of perks, benefits and rewards.

Here’s a bit more detail on what we see you doing in this role:
- Responsible for the daily care, welfare, and conditioning of ourteam of highly trained gun dogs, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards of health, fitness, and wellbeing. This includes kennel and paddock management, feeding routines, exercise programmes, and monitoring behaviour to ensure ourdogs remain comfortable, content, and ready for work
- Working closely with our exceptional gun dogs on a daily basis, demonstrating their wide range of skills and abilities during guest experiences and lessons. Delivering engaging, informative, and safe instruction while showcasing the dogs' training, retrieving abilities, obedience, and working partnership with handlers
- Supporting the ongoing training and development ofourgun dogs, maintaining high standards of care, and helping ourguests gain a deeper understanding of working dogs and countryside pursuits
- Assisting with the daily care and husbandryof our ferrets, supporting guest experiences involving the animals, and ensuring the highest standards of animal wellbeing and guest enjoyment
- Providing engagingjunior off-road driving instruction to younger guests, prioritising safety and confidence-building while maintaining our vehicles and ensuring they are clean, presentable, and ready for use
- Delivering exceptional guest service at all times, creating memorable experiences through professional interaction, expert instruction, and a genuine passion for animal care and countryside activities, helping to maintain a five-star standard throughout every guest visit
- Interacting with our guests, always warm, professional, helpful and doing everything you can to exceed their expectations, playing your part in making their stay with us luxurious in every way
The kind of person we're looking for:
- You have previous experience handling, training or working with gundogs, either in a professional sporting, estate or kennel environment; ideally in a guest facing role with great customer service and communication skills
- You’re comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and carrying out physically demanding duties
- You want to be the best and work with the best, learning from the experts in our team, building your own knowledge and expertise
- Organised, warm and considered in your approach, you’re determined to consistently exceed our guest expectations
- Highly motivated and possessing an immense sense of pride in your work; you're passionate about delivering the high standards for our guests in line with the Gleneagles brand
- You have a positive "can do" attitude to solving problems in a professional and courteous manner
- A strong team player with great communication skills and an enthusiastic approach; you're well organised and punctual with an eagle eye for detail
