We are currently seeking a flexible, versatile and enthusiastic Activity Instructor to join our Trail Yard team to work full time over our busy summer season. You will be working 39hrs per week from June 22nd to 6th September inclusive; we'd also love to discuss options to remain part of the team on a flexible basis after the summer holidays. As well as our full-time fixed-term opportunity, we're also very happy to consider those looking for part time & flexible hours to join the team on a longer term basis!

The on target earning potential for this role is £15.96 / per hour - comprising a base hourly rate of £13.46, plus a qualified estimate of £2.50 per hour in gratuities and service charge.

Here's a bit more detail on what we see you doing in this role:

  • You’ll be leading a wide range of outdoor activities with our guests, ensuring they have an experience they’ll want to share, never forget and hope to repeat.
  • Working closely with the Activities Manager, you’ll create and develop new activities, including the development and launch of our brand new paddle sports scheme.
  • Providing bike hire and carrying out bike maintenance.
  • Looking after groups of young people as part of our Gleneagles summer holiday program, making sure they have great fun and safe at all times.
  • You’ll be actively involved in our general yard upkeep, equipment maintenance and inspection, making sure this is all accurately recorded.
  • Driving our company vehicles to and from activities across our sprawling 850 acre estate.
  • Participating in Gleneagles and external training courses which are required for our activities and key to your professional development.
  • Interacting with our guests, always warm, professional, helpful and doing everything you can to exceed their expectations; playing your part in making their stay with us luxurious in every way.

The kind of person we're looking for:

  • A Paddle Sport Instructor Award (to run our canoe and Kayak sessions) is highly desirable.
  • Ideally, you have experience of working in the great outdoors with groups of varying sizes; this however isn’t essential as we can fully support you with this.
  • Basic outdoor qualifications within climbing, walking & land based activities would be great however again, this isn’t essential, the key factor is you love to work with people and outside, in all weathers.
  • You understand and can implement all relevant safety policies and ensure the appropriate standards are met at all times, minimising risk while we work in the outdoor environment.
  • You’re able to quickly build relationships with people and as such deliver a wonderful and bespoke experiences for our guests.
  • Adaptable to working in our ever-changing outdoor conditions, you ensure that all guests are kept motivated, comfortable and safe.
  • Highly motivated and possessing an immense sense of pride in your work; you're passionate about delivering the high standards for our guests in line with the Gleneagles brand.
  • You have a positive “can do” attitude to solving problems in a professional and courteous manner.
  • A strong team player with great communication skills and an enthusiastic approach; you're well organised and punctual.
