The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is a world leading, independent, university-level institution for the visual creative disciplines. We attract some of the finest academic and creative talent and are committed to creating and sustaining learning and working environments, where difference is respected and the widest possible range of cultural and social perspectives are valued.
Applications are invited for a Lecturer in Interactive Applications, in the School of Innovation and Technology.
The School seeks a highly motivated lecturer in Interactive Applications to join the teaching team on our digital portfolio (including Serious Games & VR, Digital Heritage Visualisation, Medical Visualisation & Human Anatomy). We seek to provide a challenging and supportive learning experience for all students, providing world-class teaching and contributing to the academic development of the School of Innovation and Technology (SIT).
Reporting to the Head of Academic Programmes (Glasgow), this post involves teaching and delivery across postgraduate and undergraduate digital design programmes within SIT, with a particular focus on 3D interactive application development and its creative deployment in entertainment, simulation, education and other fields. You will bring strong practical, creative, expertise in industry-standard game-engines (primarily, but not solely, Unity3D) and development methodologies, together with a passion for fostering student creativity and an active engagement with emerging technologies as they reshape creative production techniques. You will contribute to course and programme development and lead interactive application projects and courses within our portfolio of programmes.
This role requires you to play an important part in learning, teaching and assessment, and in the quality assurance approaches that underpin them.
The successful candidate will hold a professional qualification, including a relevant Masters degree in Game Technology, Software Development or closely related discipline (or have equivalent experience). To be successful in the role, you will have a passion for learning and creativity as well as evidence of excellence in interactive application development. The ideal post holder will also have experience teaching in a Higher Education context.
The role also offers opportunities to contribute to research and scholarship, develop external partnerships and influence the future direction of digital design education at GSA. We particularly welcome candidates who share our commitment to exploring how digital creativity and emerging technologies can contribute to human wellbeing, social justice and positive cultural and environmental impact. This is an opportunity to join a growing and dynamic team, where technical skills are recognised for their contribution to creative problem solving and addressing complex challenges.
Closing date for submission of completed applications: 23:59 Thursday 19th November 2026
Interviews for this post will take place during December 2026.
