Our client is a small, friendly and well-established firm of Accountants based in Bedfordshire. They are now looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to join its team. Reporting to the owner, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining client bookkeeping records using Xero
- Processing purchase invoices, bank transactions and bank reconciliations
- Preparing and filing VAT returns and MTD for Income Tax Returns
- Running payrolls and assisting with workplace pension administration
- Dealing with basic period end adjustments including prepayments and accruals
- Preparing year end working paper files for the accountants
- Assisting with management accounts and maintaining schedules
- Reviewing bookkeeping completed by clients and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with onboarding new clients and setting up cloud accounting systems
- Supporting the preparation of quarterly and monthly management reporting packs
- Assisting clients with software queries and basic training
- Liaising with clients and HMRC on a regular basis to resolve queries
- Managing digital client records, document capture and filing systems
You should have 12-18 months plus experience within an accounting firm, have knowledge of Xero, be flexible in your approach and enjoy working in a small firm.
