Opportunity for Oral Health Therapist – Part Time (3 days per fortnight, 0.3 FTE) working at GEO Healthcare location at Loddon Prison and Middleton Annex, Castlemaine VIC.

About the role

The Oral Health Therapist works to their full scope of practice and in accordance with GEO Healthcare policy and procedures and legislative and contractual requirements. The Oral Health Therapist encourages positive attitudes towards oral health amongst the patient population and aims to ensure the standard of patient care is maintained at the highest level by the Oral Health Team.

Key Qualifications

  • Dental qualification eligible for registration as an Oral Health Therapist with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated experience in dental therapy and dental hygiene.
  • Dental qualification, which includes scope of practice for Adult Dental Therapy (Extended scope of Practice).
  • Ionising Radiation Apparatus Use License in Victoria for Intra‑Oral Radiography. (License to provide dental panoramic radiography is desirable)
  • Well‑developed assessment skills including proven skills in communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to full scope of clinical practice.
  • Ability to meet the service targets set.
  • Skills in oral health promotion.
  • An understanding of public oral health principles.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of the dental team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people including staff, patients and carers and other service providers.

Other Requirements of the role

  • Valid Australian driver’s license and the ability to travel between locations.
  • Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
  • Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
  • Onsite working (no hybrid or remote working).
