Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Chef role based at The Garth Nursing Home in Kington.

The Chef will plan, prepare, and present nutritious, appealing meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences, including special diets and cultural considerations.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include menu planning, ordering and managing stock, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, and complying with food hygiene and health and safety standards.

The Chef will coordinate with care staff to understand individual dietary requirements, support mealtime routines, and ensure a positive dining experience for residents.

The role also involves supervising kitchen assistants when required and contributing to continuous improvement of the catering service.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated professional cooking skills, including experience in volume catering or a care setting.
  • Knowledge of nutrition, dietary requirements, and menu planning for older adults and those with specific health needs.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations, and health and safety practices in a commercial kitchen.
