Located just off the M5, Best Western Bristol North The Gables Hotel combines a warm welcome with stylish surroundings and great dining. Our Marcos New York Italian restaurant delivers a vibrant, high-quality dining experience under the Black & White Hospitality brand, complemented by a relaxed hotel bar and versatile conference and event facilities that cater for business meetings, celebrations, and weddings.
We are now looking for a passionate, hands-on Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to support all areas of the F&B operation and help drive service excellence, consistency, and profitability across the hotel.
As Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our F&B outlets, including Marcos Restaurant, the hotel bar, and our conference and events spaces. You will support the Operations Manager in leading the teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences, efficient operations, and strong financial performance.
You will also act as a key liaison with Black & White Hospitality, supporting training and brand compliance to ensure that the standards and ethos of Marcos are consistently delivered. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours) working 5 days out of 7 including evenings, weekends, and key bank holidays.
- Support the management of daily F&B operations across Marcos, the bar, and C&E areas.
- Supervise, motivate, and develop team members to uphold high service standards and brand consistency.
- Act as a liaison with Black & White Hospitality, ensuring brand standards, training initiatives, and operational updates are effectively communicated and implemented.
- Support with menu rollouts, promotional activity, and service improvements in partnership with Black & White Hospitality.
- Assist in scheduling, labour management, and performance monitoring.
- Deputise for the Food & Beverage Manager in their absence, ensuring smooth operations.
- Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, health and safety, and licensing regulations.
- Support the planning and execution of conferences, weddings, and private events.
Previous supervisory or assistant management experience within a hotel or branded restaurant environment is required. Strong operational knowledge across restaurant, bar, and events settings is essential. You should be confident in leading by example and maintaining brand standards, commercially aware with an understanding of cost control, margin management, and guest satisfaction metrics. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and events is necessary.
