CATCHMENT PROGRAMME MANAGER [UK]

Full-Time On-site
T

Location: United Kingdom

A respected UK river conservation trust is looking for a Catchment Programme Manager to lead a major water-utility-funded catchment project. You’ll be in charge of delivering catchment-wide work that improves water quality, river health and sustainable land management. You’ll report to the Chief Executive and lead a growing team.

Responsibilties:

  • Lead the delivery of the project to agreed timescales, budget and targets.
  • Identify, commission and use evidence to decide which catchment interventions to deliver.
  • Secure what each intervention needs before it starts: landowner agreements, stakeholder support and planning consent.
  • Act as the main contact with the funder and build partnerships with farmers, local authorities and environmental organisations.
  • Line manage project staff and coordinate the wider project team.
  • Manage the budget, forecasts, funding claims and reports to the funder and the Board.
  • Commission and oversee consultants and contractors.
  • Identify new funding, including nature markets, so the project continues after the 4 years.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in environmental management, ecology, water management, geography or a related field.
  • Significant experience managing complex environmental or conservation projects.
  • Knowledge of catchment management, water quality, river restoration or sustainable land management.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder and partnership management.
  • Experience managing budgets, contract compliance and reporting to funders.
  • Line management or team leadership experience.
  • Full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.
  • Advantageous: a project management qualification (PRINCE2/APM), experience working with farmers and landowners, and knowledge of how water companies plan their investment programmes.
