A worthwhile job that gives work-life balance. If work-life balance is important to you and you want to do something genuinely worthwhile, consider broadening your options.

Imagine a job where:

  • People from all backgrounds and ages, including those shifting careers aged 40-65, are successful.
  • 80% of the staff work 3 or 4 days per week.
  • You can potentially work your hours between 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays.
  • Most staff vary their working hours week to week to fit in around family, friends, pets, and medical appointments.
  • You can compress your hours over 2 weeks to get blocks of days off.
  • You generally work within half an hour of your home, avoiding rush hour travel, with travel time built into your contract and a travel allowance payment.
  • The company shuts down over Christmas and New Year for at least a full week.
  • Training is comprehensive but done remotely by home study, followed by excellent ongoing support and encouragement.

We think supporting a good work-life balance for our staff is business-critical. We offer flexible local working and a culture that supports you to maximise your life outside of work.

The role is working as a face-to-face charity fundraiser on behalf of Naomi and Jack's. Naomi House first opened in 1997 to offer care and support to children who were not expected to live until adulthood. Since then, we have cared for more than 1,000 children and families from across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Isle of Wight, West Sussex, Surrey and beyond.

Naomi House nursing and medical staff provide individualised nursing care that helps to enhance short lives and allows local families to make the most of their precious time with their children. The care is immensely valuable and free to the families that use it, but it costs around £7.2 million per year to run Naomi and Jack's. 10% or less is provided by Government funding, so we rely heavily on voluntary contributions from local people and businesses.

As a face-to-face fundraiser, you can be a vital part of helping Naomi and Jack's raise the money needed to support local families facing some of the toughest times imaginable.

Your job will be to find more people to support us with a small regular donation. You do this by talking to local people at their homes, being friendly, explaining what Naomi and Jack's does, and asking them to become regular supporters via the Naomi and Jack's Lottery programme.

A typical fundraiser will raise more than £400,000 for the charity every year. After 5 years of work, through professionalism, integrity, and hard work, you could raise more than £2 million for charities that deal with matters of life and death. Charity lotteries are vital to keeping these charities going.

People of all backgrounds and ages can be successful at this job. You may have worked in sales previously or have done some charitable fundraising before; however, this isn't essential. Our approach is to find people inclined to support the charity and have a nice conversation to determine whether this form of support is right for them.

We invite all applicants to come and watch one of our team doing the job in practice before making a decision to apply. It could be just the role you have been looking for.

Job requirements include being reasonably mobile, physically fit, and active. You will also need to be ethical, take pride in doing a job the right way, possess interpersonal skills, be a good listener, and communicate effectively. You don't need to be persuasive or great at making speeches, as this isn't a typical sales job. Most importantly, you need to have real integrity and self-motivation.

This is a salaried role enhanced by commission with full-time and part-time options, including travel cost payments. You will need to have a car but will typically be working within 30 minutes of your home. Full-time OTE is between £30-40k pa. We provide full training via a home study course and ongoing support and coaching in the field. We are an ethical employer committed to setting new standards in face-to-face fundraising.
