The Fuel Store (TFS) is a progressive, Birmingham based business using technology to develop its market and stay ahead of the competition. It is on a mission to revolutionise the way business is conducted in its chosen business segments. The business is a leading provider of fuel and associated products into the transportation sector. TFS provides a range of products and solutions to its customers which help them to increase profits through increasing basket size, customer loyalty and usage; serving customers more efficiently and cost-effectively. It currently facilitates the provision of and processes the transactions to allow over 60 million litres of fuel per annum through its card processes.
The business was started 10 years ago and to date has grown organically. Future development will be a combination of organic and inorganic growth offering its customers a carefully thought out package of products with software that enables easy/dynamic/cost optimised fleet management at its core. The business is very efficient and proudly operates with circa 50 colleagues whilst delivering over £70m of turnover. It means that the senior management team need to be able to operate at both the strategic and operational level often in the same meeting. The ability to 'roll up your sleeves' and deliver your own solutions is a hugely important asset to us.
Over the last 3 years the growth of the business has stalled. Whilst the business is profitable the shareholders are keen that the business returns to a rapid growth phase with improved profitability. A new CEO has been appointed with a strong track record of successful growth and he will lead the twin track approach of organic and inorganic growth.
We're looking for a Head of Partnership Management to work alongside the MD to lead the relationships with our third party non-fuel product partners as well as work internally to maximise sales of our partners' products. This year we have decided to deepen our partner relationships because the business was being spread too thinly in trying to manage multiple relationships at a high level. We will rationalise those approximately 20 relationships and really grow the core (circa 10) set of products through the provision of innovative solutions and marketing to existing and new customers. We will take on selective new partners in our chosen strategic areas and to that end we have already commenced negotiations with new partners.
The Head of Partnerships will be an integral part of the Commercial Team and will be expected to contribute to the wider commercial agenda.
Brief Overview:- Type of Opportunity: Permanent, Full Time
- Salary: £60k base + bonus and benefits
- Location: Birmingham, (4 days a week expected in the office)

- Build financial and strategic models for new products, services, and commercial initiatives.
- Seek out 'best in class' providers of ancillary product providers
- Liaise with the sales and marketing teams to ensure the ancillary products are being appropriately sold
- Work with the Executive to develop the longer term business strategy for the non-fuel products
- Work with the Commercial Team in general to ensure the customer propositions for the company are appropriate
- Educated to degree level
- Great interpersonal skills
- Understanding of data analytics tools and how to extract information from large quantities of data
- Creative in approach, always looking for new, outside-the-box ways to deliver solutions
- Confident managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Data-aware, able to interpret financial and operational metrics to give insights/solutions to improve results.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to personal development through ongoing learning and upskilling.
- Collaborative and confident working closely with stakeholders across all levels.
- Demonstrable track record of business improvement gained through data insight
- Prior exposure to senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Are genuinely passionate about our business and want to work with great people with great opportunities.
- Take pride in spotting opportunities and feel comfortable in turning them into business enhancing solutions.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, growing business where your ideas and actions directly influence success.
- Are naturally curious, proactive, and love tackling challenges with creativity and energy.
- Want to keep learning, investing in your own development while also contributing to wider colleague growth.
- Want to be part of a forward-thinking, people-driven team that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
