Job Description

The Fuel Store (TFS) is a progressive, Birmingham based business using technology to develop its market and stay ahead of the competition. It is on a mission to revolutionise the way business is conducted in its chosen business segments. The business is a leading provider of fuel and associated products into the transportation sector. TFS provides a range of products and solutions to its customers which help them to increase profits through increasing basket size, customer loyalty and usage; serving customers more efficiently and cost-effectively.

It currently facilitates the provision of and processes the transactions to allow over 60 million litres of fuel per annum through its card processes.

The business was started 10 years ago and to date has grown organically. Future development will be a combination of organic and inorganic growth offering its customers a carefully thought out package of products with software that enables easy/dynamic/cost optimised fleet management at its core.

The shareholders are keen that the business goes into a rapid growth phase with associated profitability. A new CEO has been appointed and will lead the twin track approach of organic and inorganic growth.

As a Sales Consultant, you will play a pivotal role at The Fuel Store by proactively driving business growth through outbound prospecting, negotiation and closing new deals.

Your primary responsibilities will include opening and converting these opportunities, building strong relationships with potential clients, and engaging in persuasive communication to promote our products and services across fleet management. Your ability to understand client needs, provide tailored solutions, and consistently meet or exceed sales targets will be critical to your success.

Requirements

  • Conducting outbound sales calls with new prospects and identifying customer needs to provide appropriate solutions based on our product portfolio
  • Challenging and influencing decision-makers to move deals forward and close opportunities
  • Turn customer interest into commitment by confidently overcoming objections and securing sales.
  • Consistently pushing to exceed targets by capitalising on every opportunity
  • Upselling our product portfolio to maximise sales with new customers where applicable
  • Deliver a first-class client experience to ensure satisfaction and longevity
  • Converting new business opportunities by promoting The Fuel Store brand and clearly communicating our offering
  • Understanding client needs and requirements to deliver tailored solutions
  • Cultivating consultative long-term relationships with clients to foster loyalty and repeat business
  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of potential customers from generated leads
  • Utilising our CRM systems to record and track customer interactions
  • Achieving and exceeding KPIs in correlation with business needs
  • Maintaining a high standard within your calls, focusing on compliance and quality checks monthly
  • Displaying a competitive edge and results‑driven mindset to outperform competitors in the market
  • To have the ability to contribute to The Fuel Store’s success, you will need the following knowledge skills and experience:
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Sales role
  • Ability to work to a high volume and manage your own diary effectively
  • The ability to learn quickly and take in complex information
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales processes
  • Familiarity with the Oil/Gas/Energy or Fuel industries is preferred but not essential
  • Highly competitive and driven to outperform targets, with a natural hunger for success and a mindset geared toward winning in fast‑paced sales environments
  • Great aptitude for overcoming challenges
  • Resilience and ability to focus on the detail but not forget the bigger picture
  • Ability to work hard as an individual but also bring value to the wider team
