Application closing date: 20th October 2025 11.55pm.

About us: The Francis Crick Institute is Europe's largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions. The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture.

About the role: As our Events & Conference Manager, you'll be at the heart of it all. You'll welcome a huge range of people to one of the UK's most influential research institutes. We're looking for someone with exceptional interpersonal and management skills, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to make even the most complex event look effortless. You'll bring poise, precision, and professionalism to every occasion, whether it's a scientific symposium, a VIP lecture, or an all-staff celebration. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a trusted ambassador for one of the world's leading biomedical research institutes, helping to bring together scientists, stakeholders, and visitors to spark meaningful conversations about science. You'll be integral to creating moments of connection and inspiration, shaping events that celebrate discovery, share knowledge, and showcase the Crick's impact on the future of science.

  • Manage the external events budget, ensuring that all financial administration is actioned promptly and accurately and records maintained.
  • Work with Crick legal team as required (i.e. when drafting contracts for events with special requirements).
  • Create and develop links with people across the institute to help with event and tour delivery.

About you: You will have:

  • Expertise and significant experience in managing large, complex and high-profile events involving multiple stakeholders, VIPs and organisations.
  • An understanding of the scientific and academic world and scientific events as well as an understanding of the Crick and how it operates.
  • Demonstrable hosting experience and ability to manage competing demands under pressure.
