Working pattern: Monday-Friday, 9.00am-5.15pm. This role is primarily site-based, with occasional off-site work (approximately one day per week).

About the Human Biology Facility: The Human Biology Facility supports Crick researchers to conduct high‑quality research involving human samples and data. We provide expertise across the full study lifecycle – from sourcing materials and navigating governance frameworks to ensuring compliance and managing samples.
About the role: We are seeking a passionate and diligent Biorepository Manager to lead the development and management of a new biorepository for the Edmond J Safra Accelerating Clinical Trials in Parkinson’s Disease (EJS ACT‑PD). EJS ACT‑PD is the world’s largest‑ever clinical trial of treatments to slow or stop the progression of Parkinson’s disease, launched in the UK in 2025.
What you’ll be doing: You will be responsible for:
- Leading the development and delivery of the EJS ACT‑PD biorepository, from initial scoping through to implementation.
- Establishing robust governance frameworks, reporting on progress, risks and key milestones to stakeholders.
- Designing biorepository operations, including resource planning, protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Working closely with the Clinical Trials Unit and external partners to support reporting, accelerate agreements and ensure smooth programme delivery.
- Ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory standards and best practice for human tissue research.
- Developing and implementing a sustainable costing model and operational framework agreed across the consortium.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including academic industry and NHS partners.
- Acting as a central point of contact for funders, monitoring KPIs, OKRs and delivering high-quality reports and updates.
- Overseeing project timelines, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Collaborating with Finance and Grants teams to manage budgets, reporting and compliance with funder requirements.
- Providing matrix management and support to biorepository and sample management staff, including input into sample processing where needed.
- Supporting wider research projects within the laboratory and Human Biology Facility, contributing to continuous improvement and best practice.
About you: Educated to degree level or equivalent. Demonstrable significant experience working in research tissue banking, human sample processing, or the storage and management of human biological material. Knowledge of the Human Tissue Act and relevant governance and regulatory requirements for clinical research in the UK. Proven project management experience, including coordinating and delivering complex projects. Experience working across multiple projects, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands. Experience implementing new systems, processes or ways of working. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing reports and presenting to stakeholders. Experience working within laboratory operations, including safety, risk assessments and SOP development. Ability to work independently, with a proactive and solutions‑focused approach. Evidence of continuous professional development and a commitment to learning. Experience working with translational research, industry or external partnerships.
