About the role

We are looking for an EDI Advisor to join the EDI Team on an interim, one-year basis. The EDI Team is responsible for progressing delivery of the Crick’s Inclusion Strategy and EDI projects and developing a Crick culture, where everyone can thrive. As the leading biomedical research institute in the UK, the Crick has a strong platform to demonstrate leadership on EDI and research culture in UK science. As an EDI Advisor, you work closely with the EDI Lead and Head of Talent and Organisational Development to support high-profile programmes, influence priorities, and maintain momentum across key projects. You’ll also collaborate with teams across science and operations, and play a visible role in promoting inclusive research culture both internally and externally. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to sector-leading work in EDI, partnering with senior scientific leaders and engaging with funders, collaborators and wider sector bodies to help shape the future of inclusive research.

What you will be doing

The role reports into the EDI Lead and works closely with the wider People team, Operations, scientists and employee networks.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with the EDI Lead to develop the Crick’s approach to Inclusive Research.
  • Develop beacon activities that influence the biomedical science and strengthen the Crick’s reputation as a leader in equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Support the EDI Lead on the development of a robust evidence base for action, evaluation and reporting, including quantitative EDI data and qualitative insight, and commissioning research where appropriate.
  • Produce an annual EDI data report enabling evaluation against KPIs, Inclusion Strategy objectives and mandatory Athena Swan requirements.
  • Support the first year of the inclusive research strand of the EDIS award.
  • Undertake EDI projects and initiatives to address inequities in Crick career paths, and to create a positive culture for all.

About you

You will have:

  • Relevant degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of EDI related legislation.
  • Experience of implementing equality, diversity and inclusion activities or culture change projects within a large and complex organisation.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative data presentation and analytical skills, with the ability to use data to identify EDI issues and evaluate impact of activities.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience in delivering and organising events for a variety of audiences.
