About the role
You will lead the development and implementation of post-award grant processes, ensuring adherence to funder terms and conditions, and provide expert guidance on compliance and regulatory requirements. You will act as the primary contact for external funding bodies and support post-award practices across internal teams. Experience with business-as-usual research finance activities (project reconciliation using general ledger reports, funder invoicing, journal posting, budgeting, income recognition and other month-end processes) is required.

Responsibilities
- Provide specialist expertise in grant compliance to ensure funded research remains compliant with funder terms and conditions.
- Develop and refine robust post-award business processes and IT system controls.
- Lead development and improvement of post-award procedures, SOPs and systems to enable efficient grant support.
- Communicate with and train post-award grants team members on grants management best practices.
- Identify compliance risks across the portfolio and advise colleagues on necessary actions.
- Lead the team’s response to internal, external and funder audit requirements.
- Develop, draft, maintain and disseminate funder-specific guidance documentation.
About you
You will have:
- Extensive post-award grant experience, including management of grant finances and internal/external reporting.
- Extensive knowledge of key grant funder terms and conditions, particularly UKRI, UK charity and European Commission funding.
- Ability to keep up-to-date with evolving funder regulations, policies and good practices in grants administration.
- Comprehensive understanding of post-award grants management processes and best practices.
- Ability to analyse complex data, draw conclusions and produce reliable reports.
- Previous experience in a scientific environment or Higher Education Institute, collaborating across disciplines and levels of seniority.
- Proficiency in IT systems to support and enhance grants management.
