Lloyd's Register International's sandwich placement will be based in the lab of Irene Miguel-Aliaga. The project investigates how mating affects the gut in female tsetse flies, a viviparous model, and explores RNAi, DIPA-CRISPR, SYNCAS and ReMOT tools.
The candidate will analyse gene sequences, design dsRNA and gRNAs, optimise gene-targeting methods, and validate expression changes with RT-qPCR, while learning to rear and dissect tsetse flies.
