ROLE OVERVIEW: The Senior UX Designer plays a critical role in shaping the end-to-end user journey across The Fragrance Shop’s digital platforms. Responsible for improving usability, accessibility, engagement and key KPIs, this role leads the design and iteration of user experiences across digital platforms. This role is a data-led and customer-first role, combining quantitative analysis (e.g. GA4) and qualitative insight (e.g. session replay, heatmaps and user research) to inform intuitive design, research-driven problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver measurable improvements in key digital KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Head Of, define and execute the UX strategy across digital touchpoints, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer first principles.
  • Audit and evaluate user journeys to uncover friction points and conversion blockers, using data led analysis and customer insights and market trends.
  • Design responsive experiences across all digital platforms, aligned to defined customer problems and business goals and key KPI drivers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, as well as external partners, to support experimentation, testing and personalisation initiatives, including AI-assisted approaches where appropriate.
  • Produce wireframes, visual concepts, journey flows, prototypes and UI guidelines aligned with brand standards.
  • Conduct usability testing, analyse feedback, behavioural data (e.g. GA4) and qualitative insights (e.g. session replay, heatmaps), and incorporate findings into ongoing UX improvements and experimentation.
  • Drive UX improvements for new and existing features.
  • Propose and recommend third-party tools, including AI-powered UX design, prototyping and research tools (e.g. for wireframing, ideation and rapid concept generation), to improve design efficiency, insight generation, and overall digital user experience.
  • Support the design of UX requirements to improve internal capability, such as stakeholder-facing dashboards and insight outputs (e.g. Power BI).
  • Present ideas clearly to stakeholders, incorporating feedback to iterate designs.
  • Stay current with UX best practice, competitor benchmarking, industry trends, AI-assisted design approaches and emerging technologies to continuously improve design process and output.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a UX Designer in a commercial environment.
  • Strong UX research, journey mapping, user flow generation and wireframing skills, with the ability to translate insight into actionable design outcomes.
  • Skilled in responsive design for multi-device experiences.
  • Excellent visual communication, storytelling and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in UX design tools such as Figma, with working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS) and interaction or motion design principles.
  • Experience using AI-assisted design tools (e.g. for wireframing, prototyping or research synthesis) to support efficient UX delivery.
  • Strong experience using quantitative and qualitative research tools to support prioritisation and decision-making, including GA4 (for behavioural and performance analysis) and qualitative insight tools (e.g. Microsoft Clarity, Contentsquare, Hotjar) to identify user friction and opportunities.
  • Comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and adapting to changing requirements.
  • Passion for user-centred design and digital retail.
  • Ideally experience managing, coaching and developing UX team members.

  • Enhance the digital experience to improve engagement, conversion, and other KPIs such as customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Translate complex requirements into intuitive design solutions.
  • Lead UX input across new feature development, testing and optimisation, and personalisation work.
  • Ensure consistent visual and experiential design standards to brand guidelines.
  • Strategic support and tactical UX plan and roadmap, aligned to business goals and customer needs, delivered cross functional and reported against agreed KPIs.
  • Journey maps, wireframes, prototypes and usability insight reports supporting continuous UX improvement.
  • Usability testing plans and post-test insight summaries.
  • UX documentation for development handover and alignment.
  • Quarterly UX enhancement reports with competitor benchmarks.
