Are you an experienced HR generalist who loves variety, thrives on solving problems, and enjoys quickly building relationships with small business clients? Do you feel comfortable working in fast-moving environments where not everything is set in stone - and you can help shape how things evolve? If so, this could be the perfect fit.
We’re a growing outsourced HR consultancy supporting startups and SMEs across sectors. We’re looking for a proactive, confident HR Consultant to support and help develop our PAYG service line. That means someone who enjoys a blend of structure, professional judgement, collaboration and healthy autonomy.
This is a hybrid role, ideal for someone who likes using their initiative, is commercially aware, and can confidently navigate ambiguity while staying aligned with our values and ways of working.
What you’ll be doing:
- Be a trusted HR adviser to your own portfolio of SME clients.
- Provide practical, legally compliant HR advice across a wide range of ER issues — disciplinaries, grievances, sickness, performance, redundancy and general HR queries — grounded in UK employment law and ACAS best practice.
- Prepare client scopes of work, quotes and delivery plans, drawing on your commercial awareness to ensure projects are well defined, realistic and aligned with our approach.
- Maintain and evolve our HR templates and tools, keeping them clear, compliant and genuinely useful.
- Build brilliant client relationships through strong communication — warm, clear and confident.
- Shape the delivery of our PAYG service line by working closely with senior colleagues to keep everything consistent with our model.
- Coordinate Associates when required and help ensure projects stay on track and within scope.
- Design and deliver practical HR training webinars for small business managers on topics such as absence management, investigations, performance, disciplinaries and probation.
About you:
- Solid UK generalist HR experience in smaller businesses, including ER casework.
- Comfortable with ambiguity — you don’t need every step mapped out to get started.
- Enjoy bringing structure and clarity to evolving situations.
- Good commercial instincts — you like defining work clearly, shaping quotes well, and sticking to agreed scopes.
- Can think on your feet and tailor advice to real world SME situations.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, in writing and verbally.
- Organised and able to juggle varied priorities.
- Work well independently but value collaboration and shared standards.
- Confident designing and delivering HR training or webinars.
- Experience in a consultancy environment is a bonus.
What you’ll get:
- 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Additional 3‑day Christmas shutdown (fully paid).
- Life insurance.
- A true flexible working culture.
- Monthly companywide coworking day in Sevenoaks (plus one day a week at your local co-working location).
- A friendly, down-to-earth team who value honesty, collaboration and supporting one another.
Ready to join a growing consultancy where your judgement, ideas and adaptability really matter? If you’re a confident HR generalist who enjoys variety, can bring calm to busy client environments, and likes a role with both structure and space to contribute — we’d love to hear from you.
If required to visit a client, the majority of our clients are based in London and the surrounding counties so you should ideally be based within easy commuting distance of this area.
