The Fostering Foundation is delighted to invite applications from experienced, qualified Social Workers to join our teams in Plymouth and Exeter. This is a permanent position available on a full-time basis.

As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting foster carers to provide safe, stable and nurturing homes for children and young people. Your primary responsibility will be to provide support, supervision and guidance to approved foster carers, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with fostering regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all organisational policies, procedures, and standards of confidentiality.
  • Respond promptly to incidents or accidents involving children and young people in placement.
  • Work collaboratively and transparently with colleagues, including Business Support Officers and other team members.
  • Supervise and support approved foster carers to ensure best practice and positive outcomes for children.
  • Support the progression of well-matched placements with foster carers who have vacancies.
  • Attend and contribute to professional meetings relating to children placed with foster carers.
  • Complete foster carer annual reviews and prepare Schedule 6 and Schedule 7 reports.
  • Manage allegations and complaints relating to foster carers in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Participate in the agency's on-call and out-of-hours duty rota system.
  • Use the agency's electronic database system (training will be provided).
Essential Criteria:
  • BA (Hons) in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, CSS or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
  • Knowledge of Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards (2011).
  • Good IT skills.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Understanding of fostering and the impact of trauma on children in care.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Right to live and work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Knowledge of CoramBAAF templates and processes.
  • Experience using the CHARMS database system.
  • Experience working within children's services social work.
  • Three years post-qualification experience.
