We are looking for a Service Manager . This is an exciting new opportunity to join our Prison – HMP Highdown.

HMP Millsike, the UK’s newest, and first ‘green’ prison, is due to open in early 2025, run by Mitie Care and Custody on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. The Forward Trust is a strategic partner to Mitie Care and Custody, providing our Connections Services across the prison and supporting a restorative and rehabilitative culture that enables prisoners to unlock their potential

What you will be doing?:

The Forward Trust provide both clinical and psychosocial Substance Misuse Services across Surrey Prisons in partnership with NHS Trust healthcare providers. Each service operates a Health and Wellbeing framework taking a trauma informed and gender responsive approach to delivery of a wide variety of interventions and integrated pathways tailored to meet specific needs of each prison and individual service users. With pro-active partnership working a key aspect in the delivery of these services multi-disciplinary working across mental health, healthcare services and the prison is essential.

You will be based on site at HMP Highdown, located on the outskirts of Banstead in Surrey. HMP Highdown is a category C men\\\’s training and resettlement prison, it is a dynamic and forward-thinking men’s prison which has undergone recategorisation and accommodates a diverse population of sentenced male prisoners. You will work as part of a team with a broad skills mix delivering both psychosocial and clinical interventions to provide a fully integrated prison Substance Misuse Service.

As Service Manager you will lead the delivery of this Forward Trust project, line managing Team Leaders and practitioners within the service to ensure delivery of contractual business plan and service model whilst developing and advancing relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will be reporting on the successes of the service and be proactive in the delivery of service improvement plans and risk management.

Other key responsibilities:

  • Actively manage the relationship with Prison and Probation Service Personnel, Commissioners, and representatives from other agencies to ensure Forward services fit into the overall structure of drug and alcohol services provided in the area
  • Attend community and prison based meetings to represent Forward’s interests
  • Monitor the performance of the project against the Service Level Agreement ensuring that contractual targets are met
  • Communicate all new developments to all members of your team
  • Make full use of the support offered by head office functions to enable a coherent and sound application of support services within the units.

The service operates 7 days a week, this includes both clinical and psychosocial service provision therefore weekend working will be required on a rota basis.
