Ready to make real change where it matters most? Based at HMP Onley, this full-time (35 hours) role sits at the heart of our integrated drug and alcohol recovery service. Working alongside our healthcare partner Practice Plus Group, we deliver psychosocial interventions to individuals entering custody with substance use needs, and this role is vital in strengthening the link between the service and the people who use it.

As our Health & Wellbeing Coordinator, you’ll empower service users to become Health & Wellbeing Champions (HAWCs), trained peer leaders delivering wellbeing support across every wing of the prison. This is about influence, trust and impact across the whole establishment.

Please note: HMP Onley is a rural location with limited public transport options, so reliable travel arrangements are essential.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You won’t just coordinate, you’ll lead, coach and embed change.
  • Train and develop service users to become confident HAWCs.
  • Provide supervision, guidance and ongoing support.
  • Champion peer-led wellbeing interventions across all prison wings.
  • Coordinate health, wellbeing and pre-release programmes.
  • Work closely with healthcare, prison staff and management teams.
  • Manage rotas and contribute to service targets and performance standards.
  • Measure impact and outcomes (including NDTMS reporting).
  • Ensure programmes are audit-ready, CQC compliant and contractually aligned.

What Makes This Role Stand Out

  • You’ll build a peer-led culture that drives recovery and resilience.
  • You’ll work in a truly multidisciplinary, integrated environment.
  • You’ll shape strategy while staying hands-on in delivery.
  • You’ll directly contribute to measurable, life-changing outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in substance misuse, health & wellbeing, or custodial settings.
  • Confidence delivering training and supervision.
  • Strong relationship-builder with a collaborative mindset.
  • Comfortable managing data, audits and performance targets.
  • Calm, solution-focused and proactive in managing risk.

At The Forward Trust, we believe in second chances and lasting recovery. You’ll be part of a values-driven organisation committed to transforming lives, not just managing services. If you’re motivated by purpose, driven by outcomes, and passionate about empowering others, we’d love to hear from you.

All prison-based roles are subject to enhanced DBS checks and HMPPS security vetting. These checks can take up to 5 months to complete. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of both checks.

Please note if you have lived overseas within the last 5 years then checks may take longer.
