As part of its ongoing programme to modernise and restructure the organisation, Sussex FA are recruiting up to three volunteer Independent Nonโ€‘Executive Directors to join the Board, and are appointing a new Chair.

Sussex FA are looking for committed and enthusiastic people who bring a range of perspectives and experiences with a passion for developing grassroots football in Sussex. The Board is currently made up of a mix of independent and co-opted Non-Executive Directors. In line with the requirements of the Code of Governance for County FAs, Sussex FA are ensuring that all Directors are independently appointed via an open and transparent recruitment process.

Sussex FA are particularly seeking candidates with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: Safeguarding, Finance, IT/Digital and Data Management. In addition, successful candidates will have a strong appreciation for corporate governance and the responsibilities of Non-Executive Directors. They will be excellent communicators, with the ability to work creatively and collaboratively with professionals and volunteers alike.

Directors play a vital role in shaping the future of the organisation and act as champions for grassroots football across Sussex. Board experience is welcomed but not essential. Support and induction will be provided to successful candidates.

The Commitment

You will be expected to work closely with the CEO, staff and County Members, attend regular Board and Committee meetings, and collaborate with fellow Board Directors and other stakeholders in the strategic development and delivery of football across Sussex. Whilst the role is voluntary, reasonable expenses will be paid. Successful applicants will take up their appointment from the AGM in June 2026.
