This Content Manager role comes at an exciting time of growth. The content team has recently expanded, and the role will lead the relationship with our social media agency and guard our channel presence across major platforms. The position offers significant autonomy and creative freedom to shape content strategy, improve processes, and influence the content tools we use.

Responsibilities

  • Be the creative engine of the content team by generating new formats and ideas that bring WSL Football, clubs, players and their stories to the forefront.
  • Lead the day‑to‑day contact with WSL Football’s social media agency: shape scope, define strategy, manage contact structure, and ensure KPI delivery.
  • Serve as the key internal point of contact for all social media requests across functions and maintain brand tone and quality across all channels.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Content Producer to integrate partner content seamlessly into social channels.
  • Lead overall performance analysis on social channels, including Fantasy content, turning insights into future strategies.
  • Lead content strategy and delivery for the Fantasy game, working with stakeholders, partners and the agency.
  • Develop innovative formats and new content ideas relevant to the game.
  • Work with the Senior Content Manager on the season‑long content strategy, infusing innovation and creative aspiration.
  • Help shape the annual resource scope for our social media agency.
  • Lead pre‑season content capture: define the content plan, coordinate with Content Producer and external agencies, and deliver key creative moments.
  • Oversee the Getty photography contract each season, including pre‑season, matchday and elevated photography moments.
  • Collaborate with the Comms team on BWSL2 pre‑season content and media day.
  • Work with Senior Content Manager and Head of Digital to improve tooling that supports content delivery.
  • Manage one Content Producer, set objectives, prioritise workload, and support delivery of amplified content.
  • Oversee budgets for all relevant workstreams.
  • Execute additional tasks to meet Women’s Super League Football’s changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies to maintain high standards of health, safety and well‑being.
  • Complete a DBS check, level determined by role activity and legal guidance.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a social media–led role with agency experience.
  • Strong expertise across major social platforms with deep knowledge of content formats and platform nuance.
  • Understanding of fantasy sports, gaming or data‑driven fan products.
  • Demonstrable experience leading day‑to‑day relationships with partners or agencies (briefing, feedback, performance management).
  • Creative thinker who leverages platform features for bespoke social content.
  • Ability to shape and deliver content strategy, translating objectives into clear plans and outputs.
  • Experience acting as a channel guardian, managing multiple internal stakeholder requests while protecting brand tone and quality.
  • Experience in line management, including setting objectives, prioritising workload, and coaching/development support.
  • Strong analytical skills with reporting experience to interpret insights and apply learnings.
  • Excellent organisational skills, managing overlapping projects, campaigns and seasonal priorities.
  • Confident communicator, able to work cross‑functionally with comms, marketing, broadcast & commercial.

Additional Preferences

  • Experience in sport, entertainment or live events.
  • Experience overseeing or working closely with photography and video production.
  • Experience supporting pre‑season access, media days or live content capture environments.
  • Interest in women’s football and understanding digital fan behaviour within sport.

Location: The office is based in Farringdon, Central London. The role follows a hybrid model – working from the contractual location part of the week, with options to work remotely when required. Workplace flexibility may be adjusted in the future. Women’s Super League Football welcomes applications from everyone.
