Independent Non-Executive Director (Legal)
Location: The organisation\’s office is based in Milton Park (OX14 4SG). The role will involve a combination of in-person and remote meetings and conversations.
Salary: This is a voluntary position; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the organisation\’s policy.
Hours: The role is expected to require approximately 2-6 hours per month.
The Opportunity
Berks & Bucks FA is seeking an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED), ideally with legal expertise, to join its Board of Directors. The successful candidate will bring credibility, influence, and passion, along with experience in a legal environment. Their skill set will support sound business and football-related decision-making while upholding the highest standards of governance.
The Board values grassroots football and, as a membership organisation, appreciates individuals who understand the complexities of working with a volunteer-based membership. Supported by the executive team, led by the Chief Executive Officer, the INED will play a key role in shaping the future of the organisation and grassroots football across Berkshire & Buckinghamshire.
Main Responsibilities
- Serve as a Director of the Association and contribute to strategic planning
- Fulfil the duties of a Company Director in accordance with the Companies Act (2006) and other relevant legislation
- Support the CEO in reviewing compliance management systems in line with strategic goals, legislation, and regulatory requirements
- Provide strategic leadership, guidance, and advice on legal matters
- Act as a sounding board for the CEO and Chair of the Board on legal issues
- Safeguard the interests of the Association\’s membership and stakeholders
- Represent the Association at internal and external meetings and events
