Qualifications / Experience
Experienced manager with FMCG Engineering Essential. Oversee, manage and develop processes to ensure and improve the flow of work through the factory. Oversee the management of Service work. Manage engineering resource. Report to directors. Employee and manage additional engineers.
The Person
You will manage the planning of the Engineering department with a hands-on approach. You will develop and coordinate engineering works, related schedules and resources, skills, and materials needed to maintain installations and equipment to avoid or minimise disruptions in production. You will also support and oversee the service and spares department, improving stock management and managing staff required for the service work accordingly.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Direct involvement in ongoing projects
- Manage Engineering personnel including service and factory engineers and the projects / works
- Role is both office and factory based in Rochester
- Collaborate with Sales and produce production schedules, identify equipment involved and plan for resources, skills and materials
- Review plans with the Directors to validate feasibility
- Communicate with the Stores person to monitor inventory of materials and equipment necessary for planned activities, focusing on pending installations
- Monitor and report on activities and related costs versus plans and budgets
- Ongoing improvement and development of Engineering Standards and Engineering Compliance Policies
- Passionate about quality and best practice whilst driving continuous improvement
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to drive quality, cost, reliability, and safety performance
- Able to deliver solid cost and inventory controls
- Driven by solutions with a positive approach, ideas and innovation motivated
- Good knowledge of engineering requirements to estimate labour hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job
- Good knowledge of planning, scheduling and stock control
- Demonstrated project planning and project management skills
