Job Type: 12 Month Fixed-term contract

Location: Central London (Bloomsbury)

Salary: £52k with excellent benefits including 25 days holiday, private healthcare, leisure travel insurance, health & wellbeing allowance, interest-free season ticket loan and cycle-to-work scheme

Hours: 35 hours per week; hybrid working (2-3 days in the office per week)

In this role, you will support the development and delivery of FDF’s policy work to drive investment and economic growth in the UK’s food and drink manufacturing industry. You will manage and coordinate FDF’s policy work on skills, employment regulation and technology adoption, aligning with the UK Government’s industrial strategy. Your work will involve developing policies and managing key projects to shape and inform government policy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and insight on the UK Government’s industrial strategy.
  • Develop and deliver policies and projects that remove barriers and drive investment in automation, digital technology, and AI.
  • Manage skills and employment policy developments, identifying risks and opportunities for members.
  • Oversee relevant working groups to deliver FDF’s strategy.
  • Deliver effective stakeholder management, including FDF members, government departments, parliamentarians, and media.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Graduate or relevant qualification/experience.
  • Proven experience in policy development and implementation at a senior level.
  • Understanding of the machinery of government.
  • Interest and enthusiasm in economic policy.
  • Previous experience working for a trade association or within the food and drink sector is desirable.
  • Proactive in identifying and solving problems, balancing unexpected and urgent issues with longer-term tasks.
  • Uses own initiative and takes ownership of tasks and relationships, delivering to a high professional standard.
  • Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, listens to feedback, and uses it to improve services.
  • Seeks opportunities to collaborate with external stakeholders on complex issues, learning from them and contributing own expertise to shape mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Seeks continuous improvement and works with others to adapt and simplify processes.
  • Open to change and encourages team members to take initiatives and experiment with new ideas.
