Role Overview
This role will play a key role within the Finance team, supporting the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.
The role is responsible for cash and banking reconciliations, supporting accounts payable activities, assisting with month-end processes, and contributing to continuous process improvements across the business.
This role would suit an ambitious finance professional looking to develop their management accounting skills within a growing retail and ecommerce business.
- Areas of responsibility
- Reconciliation of other cash accounts including Braintree, Pay Pal, Shopify & Global-e on a weekly basis ensuring any queries are communicated to Customer Services and resolved in a timely manner
- Reconciliation of store cash balances
- Communicate weekly cash balances to CEO, CFO & Ho F
- Accounts Payable
- Ownership of invoice postings and supplier relationships for certain areas of spend, ensuring consistent communication with Finance Manager on the status of these accounts.
- Weekly posting of supplier payments
- Ad hoc support where required, during periods of annual leave etc.
- Management Accounts & Trackers
- Preparation of all monthly cash equivalent reconciliations
- Ownership of certain balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Posting journals including accruals, prepayments and depreciation
- Variance analysis and reporting support
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Supporting monthly P&L and balance sheet reviews
- General
- Assist in compiling documentation for year end audit
- Working towards system automations and improvements
- Other ad hoc tasks and support to the Finance team in line with team requirements
About You
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Experience performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables, SUMIFS and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience within a retail, ecommerce or consumer products business.
- AAT qualified or studying towards a professional qualification (AAT, ACCA or CIMA).
