The Flavour Network are currently recruiting for a Cost & Yield Accountant to join a well-established food manufacturing business based in South Kirkby, Yorkshire. As Cost & Yield Accountant, you will be reporting into the Financial Controller. This role is critical in ensuring accurate cost and yield reporting across the site.

As the successful candidate for the Cost & Yield Accountant, you will take ownership of analysing operational variances, identifying root causes, and working cross-functionally to drive profitability and performance improvements. This role would suit a detail-oriented, Excel savvy Finance Professional with experience in manufacturing or food production who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities for the Cost & Yield Accountant:
  • Calculate and analyse daily operational variances, including meat costs (yield, price variances, substitution, giveaway, and waste).
  • Produce cost reporting for labour, packaging, cooking, distribution, and cold storage, including variance analysis to standard.
  • Liaise with Payroll to ensure accurate daily labour cost reporting.
  • Work closely with Operations teams to action poor or strong yields and support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure yield actions are completed and appropriate training or feedback is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and update system data including cost specs, BOMs, SI reports, and maintenance explorer.
  • Ensure new products are set up correctly to accurately capture all direct costs.
  • Update contribution margin (CM) reporting.
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Planning, Operations, Technical, and IT teams to ensure reporting accuracy and correct meat usage in line with standards.
  • Identify opportunities for profit improvement and support delivery of sustained financial benefits.
  • Complete stock reconciliations across all areas including Iceco, Brakes, and CCL.
  • Ensure costs and yields used in product costings, renewals, and tenders are accurate.
  • Educate and support key stakeholders across the business to encourage a collaborative approach to reconciliation.
  • Provide cover and support to the wider Finance team when required.
  • Produce ad-hoc reports to meet business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies and report any breaches.
Essential Requirements for the Cost & Yield Accountant:
  • Previous experience in a Stock, Credit, or Financial Control environment.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Organised, methodical approach with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications for the Cost & Yield Accountant:
  • AAT Level 4 or equivalent CIMA qualification.
  • Understanding of finance functions and end-to-end accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of the food manufacturing industry.
