Overview
As a Technical Design Engineer, you\βll sit at the heart of fast-moving retail projects, working side-by-side with Project Managers to bring ambitious concepts to life β on time, on budget, and to the highest technical standard. You\βll own the technical journey from early-stage design through to manufacture and installation, balancing creativity with precision, problem-solving with pace, and innovation with commercial awareness. Responsibilities
- Producing high-quality technical CAD drawings in SolidWorks for complex retail environments
- Collaborating with a close-knit project team to hit deadlines, manage expectations, and exceed client standards
- Acting as a technical point of contact for clients, suppliers, and manufacturers
- Reviewing and quality-controlling work from external suppliers and partners
- Costing projects using established supplier databases and proven methods
- Attending client meetings and briefs to ensure seamless translation from concept to CAD
- Visiting suppliers and overseeing quality control during production
- Managing technical challenges proactively β spotting issues before they become problems
- This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where priorities can shift quickly, deadlines can be tight, and revisions happen fast. You\\\βll need confidence, agility, and a cool head β but you\\\βll also have autonomy, trust, and a real voice in how projects are delivered.

- Working at speed while maintaining a logical, thorough approach
- You have 3+ years\\\β experience using SolidWorks, ideally within retail design or a similar fast-paced environment
- You\βre comfortable managing your own projects, not just individual tasks
- You understand materials, manufacturing processes, and how designs are actually built
- You care deeply about quality, detail, and doing things properly
- You\βre resourceful, proactive, and take pride in getting the job done β whatever it takes
- You think commercially, creatively, and sustainably
- You enjoy working directly with clients and suppliers
- Bonus points if you\\\βve used Adobe Suite for artworking β but it\\\βs not essential.
Qualifications
- 3+ years\\\β experience using SolidWorks (retail design or similar fast-paced environment preferred)
- Strong technical CAD skills and ability to produce high-quality drawings
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and production considerations
- Commercial, creative, and sustainable mindset
- Excellent collaboration with clients and suppliers
