Join a growing scenic design and construction studio producing imaginative work for theatre, television, film, advertising and events.
We're looking for an experienced Scenic Carpenter who combines excellent practical skills with initiative, organisation and creative problem-solving. This is more than a carpentry role: you'll help run the workshop, lead project delivery and shape how the team grows.
The Role
Working closely with the business owner, you'll take projects from technical drawings through construction and installation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building scenic structures, sets, furniture, props and installations
- Planning materials, labour and workshop schedules
- Reading drawings, plans and specifications accurately
- Organising and maintaining a safe, efficient workshop
- Operating and maintaining woodworking machinery and tools
- Supporting and supervising freelance carpenters and workshop staff
- Solving technical and construction challenges
- Coordinating and assisting with on-site installations
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard
About You
You'll be an experienced carpenter or fabricator, ideally from scenic construction, events, theatre, film, television or a related field. You'll also be:
- Confident interpreting technical drawings
- Skilled with woodworking machinery and hand tools
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects
- Organised, proactive and solutions-focused
- Able to manage others when required
- Comfortable communicating with clients, contractors and production teams
- Willing to travel and work both in the workshop and on site
