Overview
In this role you provide technical leadership for Tax and Compliance platforms within FT’s Corporate Technology. You will deepen knowledge of the tax-related tech stack, data flows and integrations, translating regulatory needs into robust technical solutions. You will collaborate with Tax, Finance and Compliance stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable and scalable platforms that evolve with changing requirements. You’ll mentor engineers, set engineering practices, and expand internal ownership of specialist technology. This is a hands-on leadership position focused on sustainable, long-term platform health in a complex enterprise environment.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for Tax and Compliance platforms
- Develop deep knowledge of platform configuration, integrations and data flows
- Design, implement and support changes to Tax and Compliance technology
- Ensure security, resilience, maintainability, and supported operation of platforms
- Investigate complex issues and drive sustainable resolutions
- Identify technical debt and platform risks and address them with leadership
- Contribute to engineering work requiring senior-level expertise
- Review designs and guide engineers on changes affecting these platforms
- Establish engineering practices, patterns and documentation for specialist platforms
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering leads on cross-domain decisions
- Ensure changes align with security, observability, and long-term sustainability
- Mentor engineers and reduce key-person dependencies
- Document systems and decisions to democratize knowledge
- Communicate regulatory and business requirements to engineering teams
- Manage vendor and partner interactions to ensure FT ownership and compliance
Key requirements
- Significant engineering experience with enterprise financial, tax, compliance, ERP or similar platforms
- Experience owning specialist enterprise applications or platform capabilities
- Production engineering experience including reliability, monitoring, security and change management
- Strong understanding of APIs, data flows, and system dependencies
- Ability to translate regulatory/operational requirements into technical designs
- Experience with enterprise SaaS products and ecosystem
- Experience leading technical decisions without formal management responsibility
- Ability to communicate with engineers and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience building technical documentation and sharing knowledge
- Experience with Tax and Compliance technology is advantageous
- ERP experience such as Oracle Fusion is advantageous
- Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy environments advantageous
