Overview
In this role you lead the ERP Services engineering team within Corporate Technology to own and evolve FT’s ERP technology. You translate business priorities from Finance and Product into engineering plans, balancing new capabilities with platform health and technical debt. You shape the ERP estate’s future, ensuring security, resilience and sustainable growth while developing the team’s capabilities. You work closely with stakeholders to simplify, modernise and maintain reliable enterprise platforms that connect to the wider FT tech landscape.

Responsibilities
- Own the engineering, operation and evolution of the ERP technology capability
- Provide clear technical direction for platforms, integrations and services
- Ensure ERP platforms are secure, resilient, scalable and maintainable
- Establish clear team ownership of systems and capabilities
- Balance feature delivery with platform health and long-term sustainability
- Maintain visibility of platform health, technical debt and dependencies
- Collaborate with Principal Engineer and Architecture on long-term direction
- Develop and evangelise ERP and enterprise platform expertise within the team
- Translate business priorities into engineering plans in collaboration with Product and Finance
- Own planning and resource allocation for ERP Services
- Identify and mitigate technical dependencies, risks and constraints early
- Provide progress visibility and trade-off reporting to stakeholders
- Shape ERP platform evolution by simplifying and modernising estate
- Evaluate when to use standard functionality vs bespoke engineering solutions
- Manage integrations and data flows across FT landscapes with external partners
- Oversee operational performance, incidents, change and readiness
- Manage vendor relationships while maintaining internal ownership
- Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Compliance and other stakeholders on shared capabilities
Key requirements
- Significant experience leading engineering teams for complex enterprise technology
- Strong experience with ERP platforms or complex enterprise SaaS ecosystems
- Experience with Oracle Fusion or comparable ERP platforms would be advantageous
- Proven ability to lead both people and technical direction
- Deep understanding of enterprise platform engineering, including integrations and data flows
- Experience owning technology lifecycle from change through production to improvement
- Experience developing engineering capability and ownership within teams
- Experience working with Finance or other large enterprise domains
- Strong reliability, security, observability and operational risk knowledge
- Ability to translate business priorities into engineering plans
- Experience making decisions on enterprise SaaS, integrations and services
- Experience working with vendors and external partners while preserving internal ownership
- Ability to address technical debt and lifecycle concerns
- Effective communication of complex technical trade-offs to diverse stakeholders
- Experience of ERP transformation, implementation or modernisation would be advantageous
