Overview
In this role you will support the Corporate Development & Investments team to drive growth through M&A, FT Ventures, and strategic partnerships. You will work closely with FT and Nikkei leadership to assess opportunities, model financial value, and coordinate transactions. You’ll lead portfolio review and research efforts while mentoring junior team members. This position offers exposure to senior management and a chance to shape major strategic outcomes for FT and Nikkei.

Responsibilities
- Source corporate development opportunities including acquisition and investment targets
- Lead end-to-end M&A, FT Ventures investments and disposals: valuation modelling, business plan analysis, pricing, due diligence, transaction coordination, and contract negotiation
- Lead financial and valuation analysis of opportunities and assess alignment with FT and Nikkei strategies
- Lead portfolio review projects and evaluate investment proposals
- Lead thematic research projects and portfolio management
- Mentor junior team members
- Prepare board papers and documentation for CFO, CEO, FT Board and Nikkei approvals
Key requirements
- 8+ years' experience in investment banking, M&A advisory, corporate finance, private equity, or corporate development
- Buy-side experience essential
- Strong undergraduate degree in economics, business, finance, law, or accounting
- Highly numerate with financial modelling, valuation, and commercial analysis experience
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to apply financial analysis to business issues
- Excellent attention to detail and results-driven work ethic
- Strong strategic acumen and understanding of FT and Nikkei industries
- End-to-end transaction experience
- Excellent English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Google Suite, and AI tools
