The Role

FT Longitude, the Financial Times’ specialist research and thought leadership division, is seeking a Senior Editor to join its multi‑award‑winning editorial team on a fixed‑term basis. This role sits at the intersection of journalism, research and content strategy. You will work closely with leading global B2B brands to develop compelling, credible viewpoints on emerging trends in corporate strategy, innovation and the future of work. The position requires a strong editorial mindset combined with analytical rigour, enabling you to identify stories in complex datasets and translate them into engaging, high‑impact content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high‑quality report‑length and short‑form editorial content, including articles, blogs and thought leadership pieces
  • Design and write complex surveys and questionnaires aligned to research objectives
  • Analyse and interpret data, identifying clear narratives and media‑friendly insights
  • Conduct interviews with senior business leaders and subject‑matter experts
  • Develop compelling narrative decks and presentations for clients and stakeholders
  • Lead editorial projects end‑to‑end, ensuring quality, timeliness and client satisfaction
  • Facilitate workshops and contribute to client discussions
  • Maintain rigorous standards of data accuracy, editorial integrity and proofreading
  • Support commercial activity through proposal development and participation in prospect meetings

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience (typically 3–5 years) in editorial, journalism, research or content roles
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills across long‑ and short‑form formats
  • Experience working with data, including analysis and translating findings into clear narratives
  • Strong interviewing skills, particularly with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to develop research themes, hypotheses and content strategies
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Confident presenting ideas and engaging with senior stakeholders and clients
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in data validation and copy accuracy
  • Experience in thought leadership, branded content or content marketing
  • Familiarity with business, economic and technology trends
  • Experience facilitating workshops or leading client‑facing sessions
  • Background in survey design or quantitative research
