The Fidelis Partnership (TFP) is a privately owned MGU which originates, underwrites and manages London Market business on behalf of its capital providers, including the Fidelis Insurance Group and Syndicate 3123 at Lloyd’s. The Fidelis Partnership wrote more than $4.6bn of GWP in 2024 and continues to grow. With offices in Dublin, London, and Bermuda, TFP is a global provider of specialty insurance and reinsurance products, and one of the fastest growing London Insurance companies in the market. The Group continues to build out their Portfolio Management Team to support this growth. TFP has market leading systems and want to continue to develop its data driven decision making. The Team works closely with Senior Management in strategic decisions for the Group, specifically on catastrophe modelling and actuarial pricing. The Team is involved in the end-to-end process, producing pricing metrics for inwards and outwards, as well as helping underwriters understand economic capital and wider portfolio insights. The Team is responsible for producing near real time rollup of elemental PMLs across all elemental lines in the Group to inform decision-making and also supports setting group appetite through establishing the Fidelis View of Risk, and rating agency risk assessments.
Role Overview
We’re now seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Cat Portfolio Management Analyst with solid insurance market experience and strong technical skills. The successful candidate will be hands-on, focused on delivery, and comfortable producing data analysis and reporting, for both BAU and bespoke projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing portfolio-level modelling metrics, ensuring the accurate aggregation of our Cat Modelling team’s pricing of individual deals across the lines of business handled in London, encompassing Direct & Facultative, Marine Cargo, Energy (onshore, offshore, renewables), and MGAs.
Role Responsibilities
- Efficiently maintain an accurate rollup of our outward reinsurance programs in the actuarial pricing and aggregation system, FireAnt, reflecting their impact on capital and pricing.
- Prepare Cat Modelling Submission Data for outward partners, using the FireAnt software to produce exposure files, modelling files, and summary documents.
- Model prospective outward programmes for these lines of business, offering metrics on pricing, capital implications, and expected profitability impact.
- Create and manage CEDE databases to store and process exposure data, ensuring data integrity by performing quality checks, and carrying out comparative analysis across different quarters, lines of business and model versions.
- Engage with Underwriters and Planning Teams to optimize PML and capital deployment by lines and region based on an agreed range of metrics.
- Maintain an up-to-date business plan at a layer level within FireAnt, to provide forecast metrics and how we track versus plan.
- Oversee monthly and quarterly rollup processes to meet the team’s reporting needs.
- Collaborate with IT Development teams to enhance efficiencies for rollups, validations, and ad hoc requests.
- Support day-to-day Portfolio processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of outputs, with development-focused mindset to support the ongoing improvement of policies and processes.
Skills & Experience
- 5-8 years of experience in a Portfolio/Exposure Management/Cat Modelling role OR a nearly/newly qualified actuary with a relevant Pricing background within Reinsurance/Insurance.
- Able to analyse raw Cat Model output to determine contract pricing and assess implications on PML and capital.
- Working knowledge of the Lloyd’s and London Market, with an understanding of underwriting processes.
- Proficient in supporting outwards reinsurance structuring and pricing, with an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of AIR modelling being an advantage.
- Strong SQL (or alternative code) and Excel skills are essential, with Python skills desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to combine technical analysis with judgment to provide insights for commercial decision-makers, while appropriately considering analytical limitations.
- Effective communication and engagement abilities with experience of working directly with underwriters or brokers.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working under deadlines and adjusting analysis for evolving business questions.
