The role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Underwriting Governance Consultant to support and enhance the underwriting governance framework across The Fidelis Partnership ("TFP").

Working closely with underwriting teams, senior management and key stakeholders, the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring underwriting activities operate within an effective governance and control environment.

The role demands both hands‑on delivery and the ability to influence, working closely with senior underwriters and other control functions in a collaborative, fast‑paced and entrepreneurial environment.

This role offers exposure to a broad range of underwriting governance activities, building out and enhancing the underwriting governance framework, testing and strengthening UW controls, enhancing documentation, assisting with audit coordination, data analysis, regulatory compliance and strategic initiatives.

The position is well suited to an individual with strong analytical and organisational capability, a self‑starter with excellent stakeholder management skills and a thorough understanding of underwriting operations within the London Insurance Market.

  • Key accountabilities
  • Support the development, enhancement and operation of TFP's underwriting governance framework.
  • Build and enhance underwriting‑related controls to ensure effectiveness and compliance with established standards.
  • Develop and enhance underwriting governance policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting on actions arising from audits, reviews and governance forums. Build enhanced monitoring tools and processes.
  • Enhance underwriting authority frameworks and ensure controls are appropriately designed and remain up to date and effective.
  • Assist with internal and external underwriting audits, including stakeholder engagement and evidence gathering. Develop learnings into new processes / controls and documentation
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and governance submissions where required.
  • Support development of training materials
  • Contribute to strategic governance and underwriting improvement projects.

Skills & experience

  • Experience within underwriting, underwriting operations, governance, risk, compliance or a related insurance function.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes and governance frameworks.
  • Experience working within the London Insurance Market, MGA environment or specialty insurance sector would be advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and identify trends.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets.
  • Experience using or willingness to work with analytical tools such as SQL, Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify anomalies, control weaknesses and process improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality work within tight deadlines.
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews or governance assessments.
  • Ability to work independently while building strong collaborative relationships across underwriting and business functions.
