The Person

A Maintenance Assistant is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members, across all hotel departments. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance Assistant to support the hotel maintenance team with general repairs, small works, and day-to-day upkeep throughout the property.

The role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, dependable, takes pride in their work and can complete a variety of minor maintenance tasks safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

As a Maintenance Assistant, you are responsible for carrying out appropriate maintenance work promptly and to the highest standards to deliver an excellent guest experience. You will also be required to follow all company statutory and legal regulatory requirements during repairs. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Carry out general handyman and minor maintenance works throughout the hotel.
  • Complete basic repairs to bedrooms, public areas, offices, staff areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Repair or replace fixtures, fittings, handles, hinges, locks, shelving, and other small items.
  • Carry out minor painting, decorating, filling, patching, and touch-up works.
  • Assist with basic plumbing tasks, such as fixing minor leaks, replacing washers, and unblocking sinks.
  • Carry out minor carpentry and furniture repairs.
  • Assemble, install, or move furniture and equipment as required.
  • Repair walls, doors, skirting boards, cupboards, and other hotel fixtures.
  • Assist the maintenance team with preventative maintenance and general property upkeep.
  • Respond promptly to small maintenance requests from hotel departments.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, and tidy.
  • Follow all hotel health and safety procedures and report any hazards or significant defects.
  • Use tools and equipment responsibly and ensure they are maintained and stored correctly

Requirements

  • UK citizen or valid work permit
  • Proficient numeracy and literacy skills
  • Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, building role, including electrical, plumbing or painting and decorating would be advantageous.
  • Good practical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to carry out basic repairs and maintenance safely.
  • Comfortable using common hand and power tools.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Previous experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential.
