About The Felix Project, our Vision & Mission.

The Felix Project is London’s biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe. Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted. Our mission is to rescue good food from becoming waste and divert it to people most in need.

What do we do and who do we work with?

  1. We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants, and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe, including a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, and fish.
  2. We deliver it free of charge to London charities, schools, food banks, and other organisations serving people in need.
  3. Our food is a vital lifeline for children and families, people on low incomes, people who have lost their jobs, the homeless, refugees, domestic abuse survivors, the elderly, and key workers.
  4. We operate a Central Production Unit (CPU) in East London where we use surplus food to create Felix Meals, making an average of 4,500 Felix Ready Meals, 6 days a week.

More about Unit 17

  1. In early 2025 we will open our second production facility as part of the Coronation Food Project, celebrating His Majesty King Charles’ 75th birthday.
  2. We will create a range of products with added value and extended shelf life from surplus food.
  3. We will focus on seasonal produce gluts, using ingredients that may otherwise not be redistributed.
  4. Using four key processes (re-packaging, jarring/preserving, dehydrating, and freezing), we will create products for distribution to community organisations, support for the CPU, and other product creation.

Purpose of the Job

To be the second most senior manager on site, focusing on production lines, ensuring they run smoothly and to standard. You will support and line manage junior production team members. 2. Support the creation and delivery of all required H&S, Food Safety, and HACCP plans.
  3. Work with all internal stakeholders across the Felix Project.
  4. Feed into reporting on and delivering against the unit’s stated KPIs and development goals.
  5. Participate in internal and external audits, meeting required standards.
  6. Work closely with the Food Supply team to understand the unit’s needs and upcoming trends in inbound supply.
  7. Be responsible for the safety, quality, and outcomes of the production lines.
  8. Support the product technologist in improving product range, quality, and output.
  9. Own the training and development of the production team, actively coaching and recruiting as necessary.
