The Falstaff Hotel has been a focus for hospitality in Canterbury for over 600 years. A traditional 15th century coaching inn, the hotel is steeped in history. Located just a few steps away from the Westgate Towers, the hotel is within easy walking distance of Canterbury City centre and all that it has to offer, including the world-famous Norman Cathedral, castle, museums, shops and a choice of over 200 restaurants.

We are on the lookout for a hands-on Reception Manager to lead our reception team and deliver exceptional guest experiences. You will oversee the smooth day-to-day running of reception, manage rotas and training, handle guest enquiries and complaints, and work closely with housekeeping and management to ensure high operational standards. The ideal candidate will be a confident leader with strong organisational skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to drive service excellence and maximise room revenue. This is one of the key roles within our hotel, offering the opportunity to make a real impact on guest satisfaction and team performance.

  • Guest Experience & Service
    • Ensure a warm, professional welcome for all guests
    • Handle VIP arrivals and special requests
    • Resolve guest complaints quickly and effectively
    • Maintain high service standards at all times
  • Team Management
    • Recruit, train, conduct 1:1 meetings and performance reviews
    • Prepare rotas and manage staffing levels
    • Lead by example
  • Operations & Administration
    • Oversee check-in and check-out procedures
    • Ensure accurate reservations and room allocations
    • Monitor room status and coordinate with housekeeping
    • Manage billing accuracy and payment procedures
    • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and procedures and actively support all departments while acting as Duty Manager
