Employee Type: Intern (Trainee) This program is designed for students currently pursuing an associate or technical degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the coop/intern experience. It is not designed for graduates. The successful applicants will be trained to operate a boom truck, welding truck, forklift and other support equipment. 3-month positions (May 2027 through August 2027) 8-month positions (May 2027 through December 2027)
Job Description: Duties / Tasks:
- Assist with troubleshooting, routine maintenance and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on draglines, coal shovels and facilities.
- Read and understand blueprints with the ability to assemble and fabricate parts from them.
- Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required Enrolled in accredited welding or mechanical maintenance program and in good academic standing with the college or university.
- Completed a portion of college in the associated field of study and intents on completing the degree.
- Applicants need to have a valid driver's license
- Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
- Able to work rotating shifts.

Starting Salary: $33.20 (Hourly)

Intermittent: None
Occasionally (0 -1/3 of workday): Climbing stairs, bending, stooping, squatting, and working on elevated work or standing.
Frequently (1/3 β 2/3 of workday): Walking, lift floor to waist (60 lbs.), lift waist to eye (25 lbs.), bilateral carry (60 lbs.), unilateral carry (25 lbs.), and push and pull (50 lbs.).
Continually (2/3-3/3 of workday): Lift floor to waist (60 lbs.), lift waist to eye (25 lbs.), bilateral carry (60 lbs.), unilateral carry (25 lbs.), and push and pull (50 lbs.).
NOTE: This position requires working rotating shifts.
The role involves approximately 50% indoor work and 50% outdoor work.
Employees must be able to work while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to steel-toe boots, safety glasses, a hard hat, face shield, and respirator.
Must also successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and the applicable Job Function Test (JFT).
