This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly established and successful independent security systems provider in a desk-based Account Management position, taking responsibility for developing and maintaining relationships across an existing portfolio of customers. The business has an excellent reputation within the security industry, with more than four decades of experience delivering sophisticated security solutions across high-security, public space, transport and critical infrastructure environments throughout the UK and Ireland.

Working with leading technology partners, the organisation delivers innovative integrated security solutions tailored around individual customer requirements. Continued investment in technology, people and service delivery has enabled the business to develop long-standing relationships with customers across a diverse range of sectors. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced Account Manager who can provide proactive, consistent management of an established customer portfolio.

The role will be predominantly desk based, combining proactive account management, customer retention, relationship development and identification of additional sales opportunities within existing accounts. You will become the primary commercial contact for a portfolio of customers, maintaining regular communication rather than simply responding when a requirement arises. You will develop a strong understanding of each customer's estate, existing security provision and future requirements, allowing you to identify opportunities to provide additional systems, upgrades, maintenance and wider security solutions.

The position would particularly suit someone who understands the security systems/integration market and enjoys developing existing customer relationships.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop an established portfolio of security systems customers.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with key customer contacts and become a trusted point of contact for their ongoing security requirements.
  • Maintain a structured programme of proactive customer calls, account reviews and regular contact across the portfolio.
  • Understand customers' existing security systems, sites, requirements and future plans.
  • Identify opportunities to increase account value through cross-selling and upselling additional security systems and services.
  • Generate opportunities across CCTV, access control, intruder detection, integrated security systems, upgrades, maintenance and associated solutions.
  • Proactively follow up customer enquiries, proposals and outstanding opportunities to maximise conversion.
  • Support customer retention and renewal activity, ensuring customers receive a consistently high level of service.
  • Identify dormant or underdeveloped accounts and proactively re-engage customers.
  • Work closely with the wider Sales and Technical teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and appropriate solutions are developed.
  • Recognise larger, strategic or multi-site opportunities and work collaboratively with senior Account Management colleagues where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity and pipeline information within CRM.
  • Provide clear visibility of account activity, pipeline, customer engagement and sales opportunities.
  • Champion a positive, customer-focused culture and ensure customers receive a responsive and professional service throughout their relationship with the business.

Person & Skills Required

The successful candidate will ideally already have experience within the electronic security or security systems industry, with a good understanding of integrated security solutions and the commercial requirements of end-user customers. You could currently be working as an Account Manager, Internal Account Manager, Internal Sales Executive, Sales Executive, Customer Account Manager, Security Systems Sales Executive or Sales Support professional looking to take greater ownership of an existing customer portfolio.

You should possess:

  • Experience within security systems, electronic security or a closely related technical sector.
  • Previous experience managing and developing B2B customer relationships.
  • A working understanding of CCTV, access control, intruder detection and integrated security systems.
  • Strong telephone-based relationship management skills.
  • The confidence to proactively contact customers and develop relationships rather than operate purely reactively.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to recognise additional revenue opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Strong customer retention and relationship-development skills.
  • The ability to identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple customer accounts and opportunities simultaneously.
  • Good CRM discipline and the ability to maintain accurate account and pipeline information.
  • A collaborative approach when working with technical, operational and senior sales colleagues.
  • A self-motivated, proactive and customer-focused approach.

The Opportunity

This represents an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the relationship and commercial elements of security systems sales without wanting a role centred around constant travel and cold new-business development. You will inherit a portfolio of existing customers where the emphasis is on proactive account development, retention and increasing customer spend, rather than simply processing incoming enquiries.

The business offers excellent long-term career prospects and the opportunity to develop within an established security systems integrator with a strong reputation, extensive technical capability and a diverse customer base. Benefits include hybrid working, flexible working around core hours, health and wellbeing support, life assurance, a 5% matched pension scheme, holiday carry-over, reward and recognition programmes and long-service rewards.
